Your Voice Matters
WHAT IS BETTER U
The Better U Survey is designed to capture the voices of staff and faculty across the University of Utah. The goal is to learn what truly matters in people’s work lives: what helps create a good day, what makes the U shine at its best, and what obstacles stand in the way. We want to hear from everyone—whether you're starting your first day or leading (a department) with years of experience. Every role brings valuable insight, and every perspective helps us grow stronger together. Originally launched at U of U Health, Better U is expanding to include the entire University of Utah in Fall 2025. Your feedback will help shape a stronger, more supportive workplace for all.
WHY IT MATTERS
Creating Honest Conversation
Better U helps leaders better understand both the opportunities and challenges of working at the University of Utah. The survey provides valuable data to support honest conversations and action planning across teams of all sizes. It highlights groups that are thriving as well as areas where additional support is needed, while also surfacing broader issues that call for system or university-wide solutions.
SURVEY TIMELINE
Fall 2025 - Survey live
All faculty and staff receive a customized link via their university email. The survey is designed to take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Responses are fully confidential; leaders will not see answers attributed to individuals. The survey will be accessible on mobile devices and available in multiple languages to ensure broad participation. Leaders will only see results for groups with five or more people.

SUCCESS STORIES
Conversations That Create Change
Better U has been used on the U of U Health campus since 2023. It unifies the separate feedback surveys for Health Academics and Hospitals and Clinics into one tool, helping us better understand the strengths and challenges of different groups and provide stronger support. We look forward to expanding to the main campus this year. The survey represents a concerted effort to listen, sort, empower, and improve. Listening begins with the survey. Then, we sort out what we can address and empower our teams to take the next steps.
At U of U Health, projects inspired by Better U have already addressed a wide range of concerns, including belonging, childcare, recognition and appreciation, administrative burden, and communication.
